Essential Oils in a Pinch

I LOVE getting to know my essential oil besties and making personalized wellness plans. The world of essential oils can be overwhelming and you should have a guide through this journey – not just when purchasing but also in the months and years after as you continue to grow your knowledge and relationship with the oils. For any instances in which I’m not near my computer and unable to create a wellness plan in a pinch, here are my recommendations for the most popular needs that I hear. At the bottom  of that post. Sleep Support

Cedarwood: Cedarwood signals the brain to release serotonin which converts to natural
melatonin. It is known for its sedative qualities and ability to provide relief to those suffering
from insomnia. It also contains a constituent called cedrol which is a mild sedative. Great to
diffuse with lavender and chamomile, or put in a roller with fractionated coconut oil and apply
to your temples, wrists, and jawline before bed.

 

Gentle Baby: Coriander, Geranium, Palmarosa, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Roman Chamomile, Bergamot, Lemon, Jasmine, Rose. Coriander can help balance emotions, calm turbulent feelings, clear the mind, and may be used topically for heartburn relief. Geranium is known for its balancing properties, it may help reduce stress, anxiety, and promote emotional stability. Chamomile is known for its calming and soothing properties, it can help with relaxation, reducing anxiety, and improving sleep. Also, GREAT to rub topically on your sternum if you ever have heartburn. Throw a few drops in the bath for extra relaxation and a drop or two in your daily moisturizer for skin soothing. Diffuse if you have babies that have a hard time sleeping or are extra fussy and around dogs if they have an overactive day or are scared of thunderstorms.

Lavender: Lavender oil is renowned for its calming effects, reducing stress, anxiety, and promoting relaxation through aromatherapy. It aids sleep when diffused or added to pillows, improves mood, reduces mild sad symptoms, and fosters a sense of calm by inhaling its aroma. It's also a popular choice in aromatherapy for creating soothing atmospheres in various settings.

Petitgrain: This oil is derived from the twigs and branches of the bitter orange tree. People have SWORN by this. Diffuse it before bed with lavender, apply to wrists, ankles, and the bottoms of your feet (pressure points for sleep), or add to a bath. Great as a relaxant to help fight inability to fall or stay asleep. Its chemical makeup is KNOWN for inducing a restful sleep since it’s a sedative oil.

Sleepessence: These are supplements that you would take about an hour before sleep. Aside from melatonin, they also contain four essential oils that help support restful sleep and relaxation. Use as-needed.

Dream Catcher: This blend combines 17 essential oils to create an aroma that may awaken creative thoughts and enhance dreams and visualizations, while muting or eliminating nightmares and night terrors. It includes ylang ylang, bergamot, and sandalwood. Sandalwood: Sandalwood oil has a grounding and calming aroma. It can help relax the mind, alleviate stress, and promote a sense of inner peace. Bergamot: Bergamot oil is known for its mood-enhancing properties. It can help reduce anxiety and create a positive atmosphere, potentially leading to more pleasant dreams. Ylang Ylang: Ylang Ylang oil is often used to reduce stress and promote relaxation. It has a sweet, floral scent that can help create a calming atmosphere before bedtime.

Marjoram: Marjoram essential oil has a calming influence on the nervous system, reducing stress, anxiety, and tension. It's commonly used in massages to relax tense muscles, promoting physical relaxation. Marjoram also helps balance emotions, offering support during challenging times. Its calming effects can enhance sleep quality when diffused in the bedroom or added to a bedtime bath.

Vetiver: Sleep is CRUCIAL for physical and mental wellbeing as it has a huge part in balancing our hormones. Vetiver is very smokey and earthy and it's great to diffuse with lavender, but actually putting a drop or two on your big toe before bed is supposed to assist in inducing a deep, restful sleep. I know it sounds silly, but I swear by it!

Hormonal Support

Hormonal imbalances in women can cause irregular menstrual cycles, heavy or painful periods, mood swings, fatigue, weight management difficulties, disrupted sleep, reduced libido, acne, hair loss, and digestive issues like bloating or constipation. These symptoms reflect various aspects of health impacted by hormonal fluctuations.

Progessence Plus: Apply 2-4 drops to stomach, feet, or inner thighs daily. The ingredients are specifically formulated for female hormone health and contain bioidentical forms of progesterone. This progesterone should also promote restful sleep and increases libido. This is just one to apply topically so that it absorbs and gets to work on balancing out those hormones. This one is a GO-TO for women aiming to balance hormones for optimal reproductive health and decrease the discomfort and other unusual symptoms of menstruation. Do not take if you are on synthetic hormonal birth control.

Endoflex: Make this into a roller and apply to your inner ankles (pressure points for female reproductive organs), throat (thyroid) area, and forearms. It helps to support the endocrine system and, thus, supports healthy production of and maintenance levels of hormones. You can apply 2 drops under your tongue every day or rub the regular version over your liver area. Major hormone and thyroid support oils! Your liver needs help cleansing so that your hormones can function properly. When the liver becomes strained, so do your feelings!

(1) Spearmint – weight support
(2) Sage – vital organ support
(3) Geranium – liver and pancreas support
(4) Myrtle – normal thyroid and reproductive support
(5) German Chamomile – liver support
(6) Nutmeg – to support adrenal glands for energy

Sclaressence: Greek herbalists used Clary Sage to support women’s health over 2,000 years ago. Clary Sage relieves pelvic pain and reduces inflammation by balancing female hormones. Fennel aids digestion, eases pain. Apply with carrier oil daily on inner thighs/arms. Greek herbalists used Clary Sage for women’s health. Roll on inner heel and abdomen during the first half of the cycle for conception, and on the abdomen for cramping during menstruation. Supports a regular cycle.

When You Feel Really Nervous For No Reason
Diffuse, inhale in a “scent tent”, or apply 1-2 drops of oil of your choice neat on temples and back of neck as desired

Cedarwood: One of the main ingredients in "stress away" cedarwood contains properties related to lessening symptoms of nerves. It's my go-to self-care oil, and I add drops to my bath and diffuse it at night before bed. Great to keep on-the-go to drop into your hands and breathe in if you're feeling overwhelmed or angry. If you get into a practice of using it daily, cortisol levels should decrease.

Clary Sage: Clary Sage oil alleviates stress and nerves by inducing relaxation and calmness. It acts as a natural relaxant, uplifting mood, reducing nervousness, and promoting happiness. Studies suggest it lowers cortisol levels, the stress hormone. It improves sleep quality and balances hormones, especially in women. Used in massage oils, it relaxes muscles, reducing overall stress. Its calming effect enhances mindfulness, aiding in coping with stress and anxious thoughts.


CortiStop Capsules: I've heard near-miraculous stories about taking these. People have said it completely stopped panic attacks and allowed them more ease instead of stress. These are also specifically formulated for how women's bodies react to stress. You're supposed to take them for 8 weeks and then rest for a few weeks before starting again. As with everything I'm suggesting, it's all clean and holistic ingredients (lots of plants and herbs).


Grounding: A blend of tree and flower oils, such as White Fir, Cedarwood, Ylang Ylang, and Black Spruce, which are all oils that stabilize and calm your mind and, thus, your emotions. I put a few drops in my hands, cup them around my nose, and do some deep breathing to ground if I'm feeling really anxious. White fir oil may help individuals feel more connected to themselves and their surroundings, and the grounding and balancing properties of black spruce oil may help stabilize emotions.

Ningxia: An antioxidant supplement drink (mainly the wolfberry or goji berry) and essential oils to support immune function, liver function, and increase energy. Not much is needed daily to reap the benefits. It encourages whole-body wellness. Consistent use increases the quality of sleep, cognition, reduces brain fog, reduces stress, and enhances mental well-being. You only need about 2 ounces a day to reap the benefits. Also stellar for memory and focus.


Peace and Calming: This is a blend of citrus oils aimed to uplift mood and patchouli to ease feelings of stress and sadness. Massage on the bottoms of your feet when you need to & "calm down and reset" ; Really, really good to add to a bath at the end of a long day. Diffuse with lavender in the evening and diffuse alone for pets that have a hard time with thunderstorms or with valor after a particularly anxious day.


Stress Away: Combining with Valor is great for decreasing levels of nervousness and overwhelm. One of the main ingredients is Cedarwood. Cedarwood contains SO many properties related to lessening symptoms of nervousness, specifically cedrol which is a mild sedative that calms the nervous system. Super B Tablets: Taking a B complex supplement consistently relieves stress and nerves. This one contains ALL essential B vitamins. Huge win. These vitamins play a crucial role in maintaining the health of the nervous system, aiding in the synthesis of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which are essential for mood regulation. By supporting the adrenal glands, B vitamins contribute to a balanced stress response, potentially reducing the impact of stress and nerves. Additionally, Super B's involvement in energy production may indirectly influence mental well-being by preventing fatigue and promoting a positive mood. The mood- regulating properties of certain B vitamins, such as B6, coupled with their contribution to cognitive function, may collectively contribute to a more resilient mental state.


Valor: Balances and equalizes the body’s energies, thereby increasing oxygen intake to the pineal gland—the seat of our higher intelligence and intuitive faculties. Instant confidence boost for me. and my GO-TO if I'm feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stressed. Apply to feet and shoulders at the beginning of the day combined with a mantra if you choose. However, I put it all over and inhale deeply in a "scent tent".

When You Feel Really, Really Sad

Diffuse, inhale in a “scent tent”, or apply 1-2 drops of oil of your choice neat on temples and back of neck as desired.

Lemon Myrtle: Some individuals find the scent beneficial for emotional support during or after chemotherapy. The uplifting and refreshing quality of lemon myrtle may contribute to stress reduction and mood enhancement. Its invigorating yet calming properties create a balanced atmosphere, potentially alleviating feelings of sadness or low mood. Diffusing lemon myrtle essential oil can foster a supportive environment, promoting emotional well-being.


Davana: This oil is thousands of years old and is used by Ayurvedic healers to balance mind, body, and spirit. Often, people I know who are experiencing general sadness, grief, etc. Diffuse or put a few drops in your hand and cup them around your nose and take a few inhales. Place a drop on the top of your feet and in the space between your wrist and forearm (pressure points for sadness).

 

Joy: Joy is a blend of floral and citrus essential oils, including Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Jasmine, Palmarosa, Rose, Bergamot, Lemon, and Tangerine. Geranium oil, for example, may have anti- sadness-like effects, possibly by interacting with mood-regulating neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. Apply neat to your temples and the back of your neck.


Bergamot: Bergamot essential oil is suggested for its uplifting and energizing qualities, making it a "happy" oil. Rich in limonene, it stimulates serotonin and dopamine release, associated with mood regulation. Linked to mood enhancement and believed to support individuals dealing with sadness, its citrus aroma induces relaxation, lowers cortisol levels, and creates a positive state of mind. Commonly diffused in aromatherapy for a soothing environment, some use it topically for massages or in bath products.

 

When Your Head Hurts

Deep Relief Oil: The oils in it have been formulated to provide deep and lasting relief for sore muscles, joints, and ligaments, stressed nerves, and a pounding head. This blend contains Peppermint, Wintergreen, Dorado Azul, and Helichrysum, which all work together to reduce inflammation, relax muscles, and relieve pain. Roll directly onto areas where you feel pain in your head. Also great for sore feet. M-Grain oil: Swipe it across your forehead, temples, and the back of your neck. It’s formulated with a few oils conducive to releasing tension (Peppermint, chamomile, lavender, basil, marjoram, and helichrysum).


Peppermint oil: Drop 2-3 drops of peppermint oil on the top of your head and gently massage it into your scalp. You can also put a drop of peppermint on your right forearm, just below the fold of your elbow, and apply vita flex movement. You can also put a few drops on your thumb and hold it to the roof of your mouth to lessen the strength of head pain.


Peppermint Vitality Oil: Vitality oils are safe to ingest. Putting a few drops on your thumb and pressing it against the roof of your mouth for one minute can lessen the strength of pain in your head.

Thieves Vitality Oil: Vitality oils are safe to ingest. Use your thumb to press a few drops to the roof of your mouth for 1 minute. Flavonoids that are present in clove oil (main ingredient in Thieves) are the reason it can alleviate the head pain quickly. It eases the pain and has a cooling effect. Thieves in general is great though for so many reasons. Ingesting it will also boost your
immunity.

Focus and Motivation

Apply 1-2 drops of the oil of choice neat or diluted 4-8 times daily on the neck, brain stem, and even on the head.
Applying a single drop under the nose is helpful and refreshing
Massage 2-4 drops of oil neat on the bottom’s of the feet just before bedtime.

AminoWise: The Aminowise supplement, designed for athletic performance and muscle recovery, also supports cognitive function. With its blend of amino acids, antioxidants, minerals, and nutrients, it aids mental clarity, focus, and reduces brain fog. It contains essential amino acids for neurotransmitter synthesis, influencing mood and focus. Electrolytes like potassium and sodium maintain nerve function, enhancing mental clarity. Sacha Inchi has an EXTREMELY high content of Omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for brain health and overall cognitive function. Mindwise also contains pomegranate, which is loaded with all kinds of vitamins and nutrients to support your brain and body.
